Detectives investigating the assaults of two men in East Grinstead on Tuesday (April 14) are keeping an open mind as to the cause of the injuries that they sustained.

Police were called to Moat Road in the town at 1.33pm where one man had suffered an injury to his mouth and another a serious head injury. The latter was airlifted to hospital where his condition on Monday evening was understood not to be life-threatening. The other man was taken to hospital for treatment by road. Both were conscious and breathing when they left the scene.
