In a tragic case that has gripped the community, Samuel Warnock, a 29-year-old resident of Devizes, has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his three-month-old baby daughter, Miyah. The heartbreaking plea was made at Winchester Crown Court on January 16, 2024.
The case took a further distressing turn when Miyah’s mother, Jasmine Warnock, 28, also formerly of Cornfield Road, pleaded guilty to Section 1 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933, which pertains to cruelty to persons under sixteen. This development has shocked many and adds to the gravity of the situation.
The tragic incident unfolded on September 20, 2021, when emergency services were urgently summoned to the Warnock residence, prompted by serious medical concerns about baby Miyah. The infant was swiftly transported to Bristol Children’s Hospital, but despite the valiant efforts of medical professionals, she tragically succumbed to her injuries on October 19, 2021.
Both Samuel and Jasmine Warnock will face the consequences of their actions when they are sentenced on March 18 at Winchester Crown Court. The court’s decision will bring a measure of closure to this heart-wrenching case that has deeply affected the local community.
