The eight-year-old girl who tragically lost her life when a Land Rover crashed into a primary school in southwest London has been identified. Selena Lau has been named as the victim of the incident that occurred at The Study Preparatory School on Camp Road in Wimbledon on Thursday. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the girl’s identity.

In a statement issued by the family, Selena was described as an intelligent and cheeky girl who was adored and loved by everyone. The family has requested privacy during this devastating time.

As a tribute to Selena, a heartfelt message was left at the scene on Friday. It read, “Dear Selena, you will always be our shining star. We will miss you so much.” The note, accompanied by a picture of a star with kisses, demonstrated the love and grief felt by those who knew her.

Following the incident, a total of 16 people received treatment at the scene, with 10 individuals being transported to the hospital. Currently, an eight-year-old girl and a woman in her 40s remain in critical condition in the hospital, receiving medical care for their injuries.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the incident, with up to 20 ambulances, an air ambulance, and firefighters dispatched to the school at 09.54 BST on Thursday.

The driver of the Land Rover, a 46-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. However, she has since been released on bail. Police confirmed that the driver stopped after the crash, cooperating with authorities during the investigation.
