A Dad has been locked up for six and a half years after shaking his four-Weekweek-old son so violently in 2018 that the baby later died from his injuries – four years on.

Mehmet Tufan, 30, from england/england/dovecot/”>dovecot/”>Dovecot, pleaded guilty to manslaughter at liverpool/" https:>Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, September 29. The nightmare wales/Beganbegan/”>began in April 2018, when baby Leo Williams was rushed to hospital with life-changing injuries caused by his father’s violent shaking.

Tufan was initially jailed for two years in 2019 after being found guilty of a lesser assault charge. But Leo’s injuries were catastrophic. After months in intensive care, Leo was Wellwell enough to be cared for at home by his mum and family.
He praised Leo’s family for their strength in caring for the child despite the heartbreaking circumstances. “Leo’s death at such a young age is utterly tragic. Our thoughts remain with his grieving family,” added DS Bruce.
