East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) is currently responding to a fire in Upper Avenue, Eastbourne, following a small gas explosion in a shed late this evening.

According to bystanders, the explosion occurred around 11 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024. The incident prompted an immediate response from local fire crews, who were swiftly dispatched to the scene to contain the fire and prevent further damage.

A photo shared by Elite – Building and Restoration, shows the aftermath of the explosion, with firefighters on-site working to bring the situation under control.

ESFRS is expected to remain on the scene until the fire is fully extinguished and the area is declared safe. Residents in the vicinity are advised to stay clear of the area and allow emergency services to carry out their work.
