Detectives have named the victim of a fatal stabbing in Walworth as Giovanny Rendon Bedoya (Pictured), 21, as a murder investigation continues into the deadly attack that took place on Monday evening.
Police were called at 9:16pm on Monday, 14 April, to reports of a stabbing on Hillingdon Street, SE17. Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and found a young man with severe stab wounds. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, Giovanny was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement today, Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, who is leading the investigation, confirmed the victim’s identity and issued a direct appeal to the public for witnesses and information.
“On arrival, officers found a 21-year-old man who had sustained serious stab injuries. He was treated by the London Ambulance Service before he was sadly pronounced dead on scene,” said DCI Blackburn.
“I can now name the victim as Giovanny Rendon Bedoya from Walworth. His next of kin has been informed and they are currently being supported by specialist officers. Our thoughts remain with them at this incredibly difficult time.”
The detective added that police received multiple 999 calls reporting the incident, with witnesses describing a number of individuals in the area carrying knives.
“We believe there were many people in the area who saw the group, who haven’t yet come forward. Please, if you saw, heard, or have any footage, come forward. Your information could be vital,” she urged.
Following the incident, six people were arrested. Of those, three have been released with no further action, while three remain on bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Superintendent Emma Bond, Acting BCU Commander for Lambeth and Southwark, acknowledged the community’s concerns and confirmed increased patrols in the area.
“I want to reassure you all today that we are working around the clock to find the perpetrators of this attack and bring them to justice,” she said. “You can expect to see more officers in the coming days. If anyone has concerns, please speak to them — we are here to help.”
