Homicide Detectives Launch Murder Investigation After the Death of Man in Enfield – UKNIP

Homicide detectives are appealing for information following the tragic death of Ibrahim Pertek, a 52-year-old man from Wood Green, who died in hospital on Tuesday, August 1. Detectives believe that Mr. Pertek may have been initially assaulted, possibly during a robbery, on Sunday, July 16, at approximately 1.10pm.

Extensive CCTV inquiries have led officers to believe that the assault took place in an alley adjacent to Wood Green Library, connecting Wood Green High Road to Caxton Road. At 2.50pm on the same night, officers and the London Ambulance Service responded to a call and found Mr. Pertek suffering from a serious head injury. He was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition, but tragically, he did not recover.

The incident was initially investigated by local detectives, but following Mr. Pertek’s death, homicide detectives launched a murder investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Detective Inspector Andy Griffin made a public appeal for witnesses, urging anyone who was in the area of Wood Green High Road during the specified time to come forward, especially motorists with dash cams. Detectives believe that Mr. Pertek was seen by people prior to the assault, and they are keen to hear from those individuals to gather crucial information. To assist in their investigation, a photo of Mr. Pertek has been released, and authorities urge the public to carefully look at it and contact the police if they remember seeing him.

DI Griffin said, “If you have any information that could assist, please come forward, it could help police and Mr. Pertek’s family understand what happened that night.” As part of the appeal, officers will be conducting a witness appeal in the area of Wood Green High Road on Saturday, August 5, from 10pm providing an opportunity for people to speak with the police in person.

Authorities are encouraging witnesses or anyone with information to call the police on 101 or reach out via Twitter @MetCC, quoting CAD 1061/16JUL. Those who wish to provide information anonymously can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
