Laurence Fox Charged with Sexual Offence Over Social Media Image

Former actor and political activist Laurence Fox has been charged with a sexual offence following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police.

The 46-year-old, who rose to prominence through roles in film and television before turning to political commentary, is accused of posting a compromising image online without consent. The charge falls under Section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, which covers the non-consensual sharing of sexual images intended to cause alarm, distress, humiliation, or for sexual gratification.

The image in question was posted to social media in April 2024 and is alleged to show 52-year-old TV presenter Narinder Kaur exiting a taxi in 1996. Kaur, who has waived her legal right to anonymity, claims the photograph was taken without her knowledge or consent.

Speaking publicly about the incident, Kaur previously said she felt “violated, humiliated and degraded” after the image was shared. Her report triggered an 11-month investigation by the Met.

Fox is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 24 April, where he is expected to enter a plea. If convicted, he could face up to two years in prison and placement on the Sex Offenders Register.

In a statement to Sky News, the Metropolitan Police said:

A man has been charged with a sexual offence following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police. Laurence Fox, 46, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 24 April charged with an offence contrary to section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003. The charge relates to an image that was posted on a social media platform in April 2024.”

Fox, who was previously ordered to pay £180,000 in damages after losing a high-profile libel case, responded on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), describing the charge as politically motivated.

“This is yet another deeply concerning example of the two-tier British ‘justice’ system in all its Soviet glory,” he posted. I will deal with this untrue, ridiculous, vexatious and malicious nonsense just like last time they tried it on.

He ended his post with a rallying cry: “Fight! Fight! Fight!”
