A man has been arrested following a firearms incident at a residential address in Cambridge Court, Hackney, earlier today.
Emergency services, including armed Metropolitan Police officers, were deployed to the scene after receiving reports of a man allegedly threatening another individual with a firearm at around 11:11am.
In an update at 2:41pm, a Met Police spokesperson confirmed:
“A man has just been arrested for possession of a firearm and remains in police custody.”
Earlier, a police spokesperson stated that the incident was believed to be isolated and that there was no wider threat to the public. There were no reported injuries.
Cordons were put in place and several nearby roads, including parts of Ashurst Road and Holmdale Terrace, were closed while officers responded. An abandoned building was reportedly surrounded by armed units during the operation.
Local residents reported hearing a loud bang, though it has not been confirmed whether a weapon was discharged.
Investigation ongoing: Officers remain on scene and are continuing their enquiries.
