Man charged with Strood shop robbery

A robbery suspect has been charged with stealing tobacco products from a newsagent in Medway. It is reported that a man entered a shop in Darnley Road, Strood, on Tuesday 18 June 2019 at around 6.30pm and he threatened to stab a member of staff. Two days later, Danny Thompson, 25, of no fixed address, was arrested and has now been charged with robbery. He has been remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates Court on Friday 21 June 2019. Kent Police takes a zero-tolerance approach to knife crime and those associated with it. Our officers are proactively patrolling our public spaces at all times of the day, and will respond to anybody acting suspiciously. Anybody who unlawfully carries a knife or other weapon should expect to be stopped and arrested.
