A 24-year-old man has been slammed with attempted rape charges after a terrifying attack in an Islington park.
Attack Near Arsenal Tube
Samuel Mumbaya, who has no fixed address, was charged yesterday (October 20) following his arrest the day before. The chilling assault happened just before 7pm on October 14 at Gillespie Park, near Arsenal Underground station.
According to police, a woman was walking through the park when Mumbaya, spotted lurking near some bushes, suddenly tried to rape her. The brave victim managed to escape, and a second man gave chase to the attacker.
Court Appearance Today
Mumbaya is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court this morning (October 21) to face the charges.
