Man charged with Rainham woman murder
Detectives investigating the death of a woman in Rainham have charged a man. kent-police/">Kent Police was called to a property in the Miers Court Road area of Rainham at 8.32pm on Thursday 10 October 2019. Officers and the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene where Lesley Spearing, 55 was declared deceased. A post mortem examination revealed she died of a stab wound. A man was arrested shortly after in Rainham High Street and detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate launched a murder investigation. On Saturday 12 October, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised a charge of murder against Jamie Burnett, 27 from Old Road, Chatham. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 12 October and was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday 14 October. Both parties were known to each other.
