Man Charged with Murder of Woman in Rainham
Detectives have charged a man following the death of a woman in Rainham. Kent Police were called to Miers Court Road at 8.32pm on Thursday, 10 October 2019.
Woman Found Stabbed at Property
Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene where 55-year-old Lesley Spearing was pronounced dead. A post mortem confirmed she died from a stab wound.
Suspect Arrested and Charged
A man, Jamie Burnett, 27, from Old Road, Chatham, was arrested shortly after on Rainham High Street. The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate launched a murder investigation.
On Saturday 12 October, the Crown Prosecution Service charged Burnett with murder. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court that day and was remanded in custody ahead of his Maidstone Crown Court hearing on Monday 14 October.
Both victim and suspect were known to each other.
