In a court hearing at Bexley Magistrates’ Court, it was revealed that a man has been fined over £2,800 and narrowly avoided imprisonment after forging a security guard license to secure a job at a high-street casino. Olajide John Shomoye, a 48-year-old resident of Bexley Road in Erith, appeared before the court on Wednesday, June 28, where he pleaded guilty to committing fraud by false representation between May 18 and June 12, 2021.
The court heard that Shomoye had illegally cloned a security licensing card belonging to another individual and used it to fraudulently obtain employment as a security guard at Admiral Casino. His actions raised serious concerns about public safety, as members of the public were left vulnerable without the protection of a qualified security officer.
As a result, Shomoye was given a 24-week prison sentence suspended for 18 months, meaning he will not serve jail time unless he commits another crime within the next year and a half. Additionally, he was fined £2,887 for his fraudulent activities.
