A 44-year-old man has been slammed with an 18-year prison sentence for a string of brutal sexual offences in St Helens. Habibul Haque appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today, Friday 17 October, after a gripping trial earlier this month.
Multiple Sex Crimes Spanning Six Years
Haque was found guilty of four counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, assault causing actual bodily harm, plus controlling and coercive behaviour. The horrific offences targeted a woman in her 20s and unfolded over six years.
Justice Served After Complex Investigation
The crimes were reported in March 2025, triggering a complex police probe that ultimately led to Haque’s arrest, charge, and conviction. The court also slapped him with a lifetime spot on the Sex Offender’s Register and slapped on an indefinite restraining order.
Stay safe: The sentence sends a clear message that abuse and manipulation will not be tolerated in St Helens or anywhere else.
