A 44-year-old man has been locked up for 18 years for a brutal spree of sexual offences in St Helens. Habibul Haque faced Liverpool Crown Court today, Friday 17 October, following a tense trial earlier this month.

Six Years of Sickening Sex Crimes

Haque was convicted of four counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, assault causing actual bodily harm, plus controlling and coercive behaviour. His horrifying attacks targeted a woman in her 20s and stretched across a shocking six-year period.

Police Crack Case After Complex Investigation

The victim came forward in March 2025, sparking an intense police probe. Haque was swiftly arrested, charged, and ultimately convicted. He now faces a lifetime spot on the Sex Offender’s Register alongside an indefinite restraining order.

Stay safe: The harsh sentence sends a stark warning that abuse and manipulation will not be tolerated in St Helens – or anywhere else.
