Man Released on Bail over Newport Murder

Hampshire Constabulary have released a man on bail following the death of  an Isle of Wight man Gary Stacey A 20 year-old man from Newport, who was being questioned by police on suspicion of murder, has been bailed until March 29.

He was initially arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, for which he has been released without charge. We are continuing with our investigation into the death of Gary Stacey, who died yesterday (February 15), after he was assaulted in St James’ Street, Newport, at 4am on Feb 14.   Anyone with information relating to this incident should contact police on 101 quoting Operation Smooth, alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
