A man who lured a woman to a property under false pretences and subjected her to a horrifying sexual assault has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Naveed Hussain, 33, persuaded the victim to visit a property in Handsworth, Birmingham, with the intention of renting out a room. However, once inside, he locked her in a room, brandished a machete, and proceeded to repeatedly rape her.
Following the assault, the victim managed to escape and encountered a passer-by who noticed her distress and immediately called for paramedics. The authorities were alerted and swiftly apprehended Hussain in Handsworth. Upon his arrest, he was found to be in possession of a knife, and a search of the property led to the discovery of the machete.
During the trial, the courageous victim provided a detailed account of the incident, which aided in Hussain’s conviction. He was found guilty of rape and possession of a weapon. On Tuesday, 10 October, Birmingham Crown Court sentenced him to 15 years in prison and ordered him to be placed on the sex offender’s register for life.
