A Metropolitan Police detective has been charged with coercive and controlling behaviour, authorities have confirmed.
Officer Due in Court
Detective Constable Asiri Hamidi, 34, who is attached to the South Area Command Unit, is set to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 5 March. He was officially charged on Friday, 31 January, following an allegation made to police in April 2022.
Allegations Against the Officer
The alleged offending took place while DC Hamidi was off-duty, according to police statements. Following the charge, he has been suspended from duty.
Ongoing Investigation
The Metropolitan Police has not provided further details about the case but confirmed that a full investigation is underway. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information regarding the case to come forward.
