A 23-year-old man has been charged with the rape of a woman in Brighton, following a swift investigation by Sussex Police. The incident occurred on 23 October near Brighton Pier, and authorities have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The case came to light when a 20-year-old local woman reported the alleged rape to police on 25 October. She stated that the assault took place in the early hours of Wednesday, 23 October, between 3.40am and 4am, on a section of beach to the west of Brighton Pier.
Mohammed Adam, from Chequers Place, Dorking, Surrey, was promptly arrested and charged in connection with the crime. Adam appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 5 November, where he was remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear in court again on 3 December.

Detective Chief Inspector Jon Gillings acknowledged the courage of the victim in reporting the incident. “I’d like to commend the victim on her bravery in coming forward and reporting this to us. She is being supported by specialist officers, and we are keeping her updated as the investigation progresses,” he said.
