Man, 23, Charged with Rape Near Brighton Pier After Rapid Police Probe
Swift Arrest Following Beachside Assault
A 23-year-old man has been charged with raping a woman near Brighton Pier. Sussex Police acted fast after the 20-year-old victim reported the attack that happened in the wee hours of 23 October.
The victim came forward on 25 October, telling cops the assault took place between 3:40am and 4am on a west Brighton beach. Mohammed Adam, from Dorking, Surrey, was arrested soon after.
Adam appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 5 November and was remanded in custody. He’s due back in court on 3 December.
Police Praise Victim’s Courage
Detective Chief Inspector Jon Gillings saluted the woman’s bravery in reporting the crime. “I’d like to commend the victim on her bravery in coming forward,” he said. Specialist officers are supporting her through the ordeal.
Gillings also applauded the officers who swiftly secured the arrest and urged anyone with information to step forward.
