Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward

Officers investigating a robbery which took place on the August Bank Holiday in Margate are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

At around 11.30pm on Monday 28 August 2023, a man in his 30s was sitting in the shelter in Marine Drive when he was approached by two men and a woman. Following a conversation with the group, he was then assaulted.

His mobile phone was stolen from him during the incident and found discarded later.

It was reported that members of the public intervened, allowing the victim to leave the area.

Officers attended the scene and a 34-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man of no fixed address were arrested on suspicion of robbery. They were released on bail until 23 November.

Detectives investigating the robbery would like to speak to the members of the public who helped the victim by intervening in the incident.
