Police Seek Witnesses After Brick Attack and Hit-and-Run Injures Young Child in Oldham

Police in Oldham are investigating two linked incidents that occurred on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, resulting in damage to a police vehicle and injury to a young child.

At approximately 18:19 BST, a male suspect threw a brick at a police car on Ripponden Road, causing damage to the vehicle. The offender then fled the scene on an electric Surron bike.

Just eight minutes later, at around 18:27 BST, the same individual was involved in a collision with a three-year-old child on Taurus Street. Witnesses report that the impact threw the child into the air, causing them to collide with a parked vehicle. The suspect failed to stop and fled the scene, leaving the injured child behind.

The young victim suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the child has since been discharged and is now recovering at home.

Greater Manchester Police are appealing to the public for assistance in their investigation. They are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have witnessed either incident or has relevant footage from CCTV, dashcams, or Ring doorbells.
