Brick Attack and Hit-and-Run Shock Oldham Streets
Police in Oldham are hunting a suspect after two shocking linked incidents on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. A police car was smashed by a brick, and just minutes later, a young child was hurt in a hit-and-run.
Brick Smashes Police Car — Suspect Flees on Electric Bike
At 6:19pm, a male threw a brick at a police vehicle on Ripponden Road. The attack caused damage to the car before the suspect sped off on an electric Surron bike. The police launched an immediate search for the culprit.
Child Thrown Into Air in Hit-and-Run Just Minutes Later
Only eight minutes later, at about 6:27pm, the same man hit a three-year-old child on Taurus Street. Witnesses say the impact was so severe it threw the toddler into the air before colliding with a parked car. The suspect didn’t stop and fled, leaving the little victim injured on the scene.
The toddler suffered a head injury and was rushed to hospital. Thankfully, the child has since been discharged and is recovering at home.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Camera Footage
