Manhunt Underway After Attempted Rape in West Ham
Police are urgently hunting a man who tried to rape a woman near the junction of Paul Street and West Ham Lane, East London. The terrifying attack happened around 10.30pm on Saturday, June 1.
Victim’s Screams Scare Off Attacker
The victim, a woman in her 30s, was followed by the suspect before he assaulted her from behind in an attempted sexual attack. Thankfully, her screams alerted nearby residents. Officers rushed to the scene but the attacker fled running towards West Ham Lane.
Suspect Description Released
- White male, about 5ft 8in tall
- Medium build, dark hair and beard
- Last seen in a light denim jacket, dark v-neck T-shirt, and dark trousers
Police Appeal for Information
Detective Chief Inspector Jonathan Burks said: “Our officers are working tirelessly to identify the man responsible for this awful attack. Specialist officers are supporting the victim during this traumatic time.”
Local police will be available to address community concerns. Anyone who was near Paul Street, E15 at 10.30pm on June 1 or has information about the suspect should contact the Metropolitan Police immediately.
