A prolific shoplifter has been jailed once more after being caught stealing from the Co-op and Asda. Ryan Brook, 34, of Cumbrian Avenue in Bexleyheath, committed these offences shortly after his release from prison for a previous theft.
Brook was previously jailed for three months in February for stealing £82 worth of sweets from a Tesco Express. However, by May 4, he was back on the streets and offending again, this time targeting an Asda store in Bexleyheath and stealing alcohol.
On the afternoon of June 1, Brook further committed theft, stealing £70 worth of laundry detergent from the Co-op.
Brook appeared at Bexleyheath Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 17, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from a shop. He was handed a six-week prison sentence.
The court heard how Brook’s repeat offences have continued to disrupt local businesses and communities. Despite previous jail time, his criminal activities have persisted, leading to his latest conviction and sentencing.
Authorities and local businesses hope that this latest sentence will serve as a deterrent and give Brook the opportunity to reconsider his actions.
