Following the shocking felling of the iconic Sycamore Gap tree at Hadrian’s Wall, a second arrest has been made in connection with the incident. Police have taken a man in his 60s into custody, and he is currently assisting with inquiries.
This development comes after the arrest of a 16-year-old boy on Thursday, who was subsequently released on bail. The felling of the Sycamore Gap tree, one of the most photographed trees in the country, has sparked outrage and disbelief.
Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Fenney-Menzies emphasised the gravity of the situation, stating, “I hope this second arrest demonstrates just how seriously we’re taking this situation, and our ongoing commitment to find those responsible and bring them to justice.”
