Shoplifter Who Stabbed Security Guard Gets 22 Years

Preston crime shocker: Andrzej Mikulski, 27, has been slammed with a hefty 22-and-a-half-year sentence after stabbing a security guard in a vicious attack outside a B&M Bargains store.

Knife Attack During Shoplifting Scam

On 26th February, Mikulski was caught red-handed stealing from B&M on Carlisle Street, Preston city centre. The security guard, a man in his 40s, bravely followed Mikulski after he tried to make off with a basket of unpaid goods.

In a terrifying scuffle, Mikulski plunged a kitchen knife into the guard’s thigh. The blade came dangerously close to slicing through entirely, causing a gruesome wound.

Heroic Police and Medics Save Victim

  • Three police officers responded swiftly, applying tourniquets to stop the bleeding.
  • The victim was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital for emergency surgery.
  • Consultant vascular surgeons confirmed the lucky escape from a life-threatening injury.

Criminal Spree Ends with Arrest

Just 45 minutes after the stabbing, armed officers arrested Mikulski on Edward Street. He was caught red-handed with blood on his hands and jacket, carrying the 19cm kitchen knife and a backpack.
