Slough Shooting: Man Jailed for Over 15 Years in Landmark Case

In a significant ruling at Reading Crown Court today, Caleb Fleming, aged 26, from Long Furlong Drive, Slough, received a sentence of 15 years and nine months imprisonment with an additional four years on licence. Fleming had previously entered a guilty plea to several charges including causing grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and drug-related offences.

The incident, which occurred on 21 November 2023, left the community in shock as Fleming shot a man in his twenties with a 9mm bullet in Tamarisk Way, Slough. The victim, who required surgical intervention to remove the bullet, has fortunately recovered since the attack.

Fleming’s arrest on 1 December 2023 led to a swift charge the next day. The investigation further implicated Michael Christian, aged 28, of Fairview Road, Taplow, who was arrested on 7 December for his involvement in the supply of cannabis. Christian also faced the court’s judgment today, receiving a sentence of three years and four months.

Detective Inspector Stuart May, the senior investigating officer, highlighted the gravity of the situation, stating, “The confrontation that led to the shooting was a direct result of Fleming and Christian’s illegal drug activities. Fleming’s reckless use of a loaded firearm in broad daylight showed a complete disregard for public safety.”

DI May further added, “While firearm incidents are rare, their impact on the community is profound. With Fleming’s incarceration, we have removed a highly dangerous individual from our streets, and Christian’s sentencing holds him accountable for his criminal actions. This outcome should serve as a reassurance to the community that we are committed to ensuring public safety by incarcerating those who pose a threat.”
