A taxi driver from Hastings has been charged with rape following an incident in which a woman was allegedly attacked in her own home.

The woman, aged in her 30s, reported to Sussex Police on 13 April that she had been raped the night before. She stated that a man had driven her home, then followed her into her property and assaulted her.
He has also been charged with an additional count of sexual assault by touching, relating to a separate report from another victim made in 2023.

Alammar has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in court on 13 May, with the venue to be confirmed.

Detective Inspector Carol Shoesmith, from the East Sussex Safeguarding Investigation Unit, said:

“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure all victims of rape and sexual assault are supported and receive the justice they deserve.

Please report any crimes or incidents to us online, via 101 or by dialling 999 in an emergency. You will be heard, believed and supported.”
