Hastings Man Charged Over Shocking Assault

A Hastings taxi driver has been charged with rape following a horrific attack inside a woman’s home. The victim, a woman in her 30s, told Sussex Police she was raped on the night of April 12 after the man drove her home, then followed her inside and assaulted her.

Fast Police Action Leads to Arrest

Sussex Police launched an immediate investigation after the victim came forward on April 13. Specialist safeguarding officers provided urgent support, and the suspect was identified and arrested the very same day.

Abdulhamid Alammar, 34, from Muriel Way, St Leonards-on-Sea, now faces charges of rape and sexual assault by penetration related to the April 12 attack. He also faces an additional sexual assault charge from a separate 2023 complaint.

Suspect Remanded, Court Date Set

Alammar remains in custody ahead of his court appearance, scheduled for May 13, with the venue yet to be confirmed.

Detective Inspector Carol Shoesmith of the East Sussex Safeguarding Investigation Unit said: “We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure all victims of rape and sexual assault are supported and receive the justice they deserve.
