Three Men Jailed For Nearly 30 Years Over Brutal Kidnap And Knife Attack In Dewsbury

Three men have been sentenced to a combined total of nearly 30 years in prison for their roles in a brutal kidnap and serious knife assault that left an 18-year-old man with severe injuries in Dewsbury.

The offenders — Conor Hinchcliffe, Zain Hussain, and Ateeq Rashid — were sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday, 16 March, in connection with the violent incident that occurred on Clough Lane, Earlsheaton on 11 December 2018.

Victim Subjected to Prolonged Knife Attack

Police were initially called to reports of a stabbing at the location, but a thorough investigation by Kirklees CID revealed the victim had been kidnapped and transported in a vehicle, where he was subjected to a prolonged and violent assault involving a knife.

The 18-year-old victim suffered serious injuries during the terrifying ordeal.

Sentencing Details

  • Conor Hinchcliffe, 23, of Healey Gardens, Batley, was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
  • Zain Hussain, 21, of Low Road, Dewsbury, received a nine-year sentence.
  • Ateeq Rashid, 20, of Ealand Road, Batley, was sentenced to six and a half years.

Police Condemn “Seriously Violent Attack”

Sergeant Ian Carruthers, the Officer in the Case, said:
“This was a seriously violent attack and I hope the sentences handed down bring some comfort and closure to the victim.

Violent offences will not be tolerated in our communities, and those responsible can expect significant custodial sentences.”

The sentencing sends a strong message to those involved in violent crime that such behaviour will result in long-term imprisonment.
