In a harrowing incident in Hackney, East London, a mother-of-two was tragically shot and killed. Lianne Gordon, 42, was reportedly defending her family from an armed intruder when she was fatally wounded.
On December 5, the 16-year-old assailant, whose identity is protected due to legal reasons, allegedly arrived at the scene on a bicycle, donning a balaclava and armed with a 9mm pistol. The attack resulted in a triple shooting, leaving two other individuals injured.
According to the court hearing, the teenager fired shots at a 20-year-old man and another 16-year-old boy before attempting to force entry into Ms Gordon’s home. The young assailant reportedly shoulder-slammed and kicked the door, trying to gain access.
Ms Gordon, in a desperate attempt to safeguard her family, tried to keep the door closed. Tragically, she was shot in the head during this struggle and succumbed to her injuries.
The incident, which unfolded near Vine Close in Hackney Downs, sparked a significant police presence, with tents and cordons visible at the scene. Ms Gordon was declared dead at the location, while the two injured males were hospitalized and later discharged.
The young attacker is charged with Ms Gordon’s murder and the attempted murders of the two males. Additionally, he faces charges of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply.
This tragic event has shaken the community, highlighting the senseless violence plaguing the streets. Ms Gordon, described as a “beautiful soul,” had dedicated her life to teaching children and caring for her son with cerebral palsy.
