Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, a man has been sentenced for manslaughter in connection with the death of a man in Oxford in July last year and an earlier assault of a man in Banbury in 2021.

Stanley Saxon, aged 45, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter in a hearing at Oxford Crown Court on 12 January 2026.

At the same hearing, Saxon also admitted Section 20 GBH in connection with another incident on 27 April 2021 in Banbury town centre, where he repeatedly punched and kicked a defenceless man to the head.

Today (27/2), Saxon was sentenced to a total of nine years and eight months’ imprisonment, which includes a consecutive sentence of 19 months for GBH.

On 19 July 2025, Leszek Kaminski, who was 67-years-old, was punched in the face by Saxon in Speedwell Street, St Aldates.

Tragically, Mr Kaminski fell to the floor, hitting his head, resulting in a fatal injury, which he succumbed to in hospital the following day.

Saxon was arrested at the scene and charged on 21 July 2025.

On 27 April 2021, Saxon had been involved in an altercation with another man in Banbury town centre.

He approached a man and punched him in the face, causing him to fall.

When the victim was on the ground, Saxon continued to punch the victim and stamped on his head.

Thankfully, this victim survived his injuries.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Brangwin, of the Major Crime Unit, said: “This case has presented a painful set of circumstances for all involved, with devastating and fatal consequences for Mr Kaminski.

“Saxon’s action were found to be unlawful and resulted in the death of a much loved person.

“Our thoughts remain with Mr Kaminski’s family and everyone affected by this devastating and tragic loss.

“Saxon also admitted assaulting another man in Banbury in an act of serious violence in April 2021.

“He is clearly a man who is prone to violent outbursts, and will now serve a significant prison sentence as a result of his actions.”
