A cycle theft turned violent in York on Sunday evening, leaving a man shaken after he was threatened and assaulted while bravely reclaiming his stolen bike. North Yorkshire Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses and any relevant video footage to help identify the suspects involved.

The incident began around 5:50 PM on Tang Hall Lane, where a group of young males reportedly stole a bicycle from outside a shop. The victim, a man in his 20s, pursued the suspects to Hadrian Avenue, where he managed to retrieve his bike after confronting the group.
This incident highlights the growing issue of youth-related theft and violence, and police are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.
