Three men arrested in early-morning raids over stolen ambulance kit

Kent Police have swooped in at dawn, arresting three men in connection with a major theft of medical equipment. Thousands of pounds worth of South East Coast ambulance gear was seized from their homes during raids.

Dawn raids hit four locations in Canterbury area

In a coordinated crackdown on Friday 11 August 2017, officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate carried out searches in four areas around Canterbury — Herne Bay, Hoath, Seasalter, and Chislet Business Park. The operation targeted suspects linked to a string of ambulance station thefts across the South East.

Tens of thousands of pounds of stolen kit recovered

The police recovered medical equipment worth tens of thousands of pounds. A 44-year-old man from Hoath was arrested on suspicion of robbery, aggravated burglary, and handling stolen goods. Meanwhile, a 48-year-old man from Telford, Shropshire, was held over handling stolen goods. A 33-year-old from Herne Bay faces aggravated burglary charges.

All three men remain in police custody as investigations continue into the medical equipment thefts that have plagued ambulance stations across the South East.
