Drug Driver Busted and Seatbelt Slackers Nabbed in Kent Crackdown
Faversham Man Arrested for Drug Driving
On Friday 1 September 2023, local cops teamed up with Kent Special Constabulary to tackle road safety worries raised by the community. On Dymchurch Road, officers stopped a car and caught a 24-year-old man from Faversham failing a drugs test. He was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and released on bail until 27 November as enquiries continue.
Seatbelt and Phone Offenders Slammed
The sting didn’t stop there. Four drivers were reported for ditching their seatbelts. Two more caught using phones behind the wheel are also set for action. On top of that, one driver was reported for breaching licence rules, and another for dodgy registration plates.
Warning from Inspector James Wyles
“Those reported will now face a wait to see what action is taken for their offences,” said Inspector James Wyles of Folkestone and Hythe Community Safety Unit.
“Wearing a seatbelt and not using your phone are simple steps that keep roads safe and stop drivers facing court.”
“Everyone has a part to play in road safety. Think twice before you get behind the wheel.”
“We’re planning more operations soon as part of our Safer Autumn campaign to reduce road fatalities.”
