Woman sexually assaulted in Ashford

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a woman was involved in a serious sex attack over the weekend The incident happened on a footpath that runs through Victoria Park between 10.30pm and 11.45pm on Saturday 15 June 2019. The victim, a woman in her 30s, accessed the path via Jemmett Road and was walking in the direction of Ford Way when she was approached by a man on a bicycle. He is then reported to have dropped the bike before sexually assaulting the woman. She managed to escape but was followed by the man to a nearby block of flats, where residents intervened and chased the suspect away. Officers attended and carried out a thorough search of the local area but were unable to trace the man responsible. Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are carrying out enquiries into the incident and would like to hear from anyone with information.
