Police have launched an investigation after a man died in the early hours of Wednesday morning in the car park of Totton Asda. Despite efforts of South Central Ambulance Paramedics the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A white tent remains in the car park as Major crime detectives attempt to investigate how the man was killed. A Police source has revealed that the man in his forties is from the local area.

Scene of crime officers wearing forensic suits are carrying out a fingertip search of a large area that has been cordon off with Police tape. Hampshire Police released the following : Police are now able to confirm that we were called to Asda car park, in Maynard Road, 1, at 2.20am following the discovery of a man's body.

Officers attended the scene and a cordon was set up within the car park. Investigations are ongoing and the cordon remains in place.

The 1 is currently being treated as unexplained. The store opened as usual at 7am and there is access to the car park for customers.
