Coventry Police have issued a heartfelt appeal to the public following the desecration of a memorial plaque dedicated to PC Peter Charles Guthrie, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty in 1972.
The memorial plaque, situated on Far Gosford Street in Coventry, was discovered shattered on April 7, prompting a swift response from law enforcement officers. PC Guthrie, a 21-year-old newlywed police officer, was fatally shot while investigating an intruder alarm at a local shop on July 22, 1972.
