Beloved Police Dog Kai Passes Away Following Battle with Illness

The police community is mourning the loss of Police Dog Kai, who passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the age of 7. Kai, known for his dedication and service, passed away with his handler, Chris, by his side after a prolonged battle with health issues. Kai's health complications began in October 2023, when he required emergency surgery to remove fluid around his heart and stomach. Despite the challenges, he continued his duties, apprehending suspects and protecting the community. However, his condition gradually worsened over the years, leading to his passing. West Yorkshire Police expressed deep gratitude for Kai's service and extended their condolences to Chris and all who had the honour of working with him. Kai’s contributions and bravery will be remembered by all, and he will be dearly missed.
