On Saturday, 31 August 2024, a field fire broke out in Prestedge Avenue, Ramsgate, prompting an emergency response from Kent Fire and Rescue Service. The incident, which was reported at around 3am, saw four fire engines dispatched to the scene.
Fire crews quickly got to work, using high-pressure hose reel jets and specialized wildfire equipment to tackle the flames. The fire, which destroyed approximately two hectares of the field, was successfully extinguished by 5am
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet determined how it started.
