Nottinghamshire Police have taken five teenage boys into custody on suspicion of rape in connection with a reported serious sexual assault that occurred in an alleyway near St Mary’s Memorial Gardens in Newark. The incident, which has shocked the community, took place on Thursday evening at approximately 19:45 GMT.

Upon receiving the report, police promptly responded to the scene and detained the five boys involved. Their ages are listed as 14, 14, 15, 16, and 16. Detective Inspector Stuart Barson, who leads the ongoing investigation, reaffirmed law enforcement’s dedication to providing support for the victim and her family during this deeply distressing time.
