Detectives from Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands have arrested a 30-year-old man as part of a pre-planned operation targeting suspected terrorism activity.
The suspect was detained from an address in Great Barr on Wednesday morning on suspicion of expressing support for a proscribed organisation. He remains in custody where he is being questioned by specialist officers.
As part of the investigation, officers also searched an address in Aston. No further arrests have been made at this stage, and enquiries remain ongoing.

What is a proscribed organisation?
Under the Terrorism Act 2000, proscribed organisations are groups that are banned by law due to being considered dangerous or linked to terrorism. It is illegal to join, support, or promote such organisations.
