A routine day at the beach turned into a dramatic rescue on Wednesday afternoon, as three quick-thinking youths saved a man from drowning at The Leas, a popular beach area near the Playa pub in Minster, Sheppey.

At around 1:30 PM, a man who had gone for a swim found himself in trouble in the water. Witness Jade Williams, who was at the beach with her children, recounted the events, praising the courage and prompt action of the young rescuers. A boy pulled the man out and then he and two girls laid him on the beach. They kept talking to him while they called an ambulance and then waited until help arrived,” Williams explained.

The group’s composed response ensured the swimmer received the necessary attention until emergency services arrived. Williams commended the trio for their maturity and presence of mind during the emergency, noting, “All three were very respectful, helpful, calm, and polite and a credit to their parents.

The community has rallied to recognize the bravery of these young individuals. The boy’s father expressed his pride on the Isle of Sheppey Community Facebook page, identifying the rescuers as his son, niece, and her friend. “So proud of them,” he commented.

While the identities of the young heroes are being withheld pending permission, their actions have already made them local celebrities. The incident has highlighted the importance of beach safety and the remarkable difference that timely intervention can make in a crisis.
