The Hounslow Muslim Centre has announced a temporary closure following a serious incident that occurred just outside its premises on Hanworth Road on the afternoon of Sunday, 22 June 2025.

Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 2.20pm after a man in his 20s was seriously injured in what police describe as a public assault. The incident took place near a number of local businesses, including the Hounslow Muslim Centre, but did not involve the Centre or its congregation, the management team clarified in a public statement.

“We want to make it clear that this incident is not connected to the Centre in any way. Those involved did not enter our premises,” said the statement issued Sunday evening.

Police have established a cordon and advised nearby businesses, including the Centre, to close temporarily to allow forensic teams to investigate and ensure public safety.

As a result, the Centre will be closed for prayers and classes until at least Monday afternoon, 23 June. Updates will be provided on the Centre’s website and social media channels as the situation develops.

The Hounslow Muslim Centre has pledged its full cooperation with the Metropolitan Police and thanked emergency services for their rapid response. In the meantime, it is urging the public to refrain from speculation or misinformation, particularly on social media, and to report any Islamophobic abuse to police or appropriate organisations.

“Violence has no place in our community,” the Centre stated. “We remain committed to working with all partners to help build a safer society for everyone.”

Police continue to appeal for witnesses and are urging anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting reference 4387/22Jun, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
