Man Makes Creepy Gestures to 11-Year-Old Girl in Newport – UKNIP

Police are urgently appealing for witnesses after a suspicious incident on england/west-Streetstreet/”>West Street, wales/Newportnewport/”>newport-england/”>Newport, involving a man gesturing towards an 11-year-old girl.

What Happened?

The incident took place between 8:15am and 8:35am on Wednesday 24 September. A man standing next to a van made unsettling gestures towards the young girl. Fortunately, she was unharmed. Enquiries are ongoing to Piecepiece together what exactly occurred.

Police Issue Description and Call for Witnesses

Inspector Kerry Myles from the District Policing Team said:

“We take all reports like this very seriously and officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team will be patrolling the area as part of our enquiries and engaging with local schools. We have not received any other similar reports in the area.

“I’d encourage anyone with concerns or information to speak to our officers when you see them. It’s also worth considering highlighting this incident to your child and using it as an opportunity to talk about personal safety if appropriate.”

Police want to speak to a man seen nearby at the time. He is described as:

  • Black, aged in his 30s
  • Medium build with short black hair
  • Wearing a dark red polo shirt and navy-blue trousers
