Police Appeal for Information 27 Years After Disappearance of Deborah Steel
Police are appealing for information in the case of Deborah Steel, known as Debbie, who vanished 27 years ago in Ely. Debbie, who was 37 at the time, disappeared on the night of 27 December 1997 after failing to return home from her shift as the landlady of The Royal Standard pub.
The Beds, Cambs, and Herts Major Crime Unit is renewing efforts to uncover the truth surrounding Debbie’s disappearance, urging anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Kelly Adams, leading the investigation, said:
“Debbie’s family are desperate for answers as they continue to grieve for her and have no idea where she is. They want to be able to lay her to rest properly and with dignity.”
Despite extensive investigations over the years, no trace of Debbie has been found, leaving her family in a state of ongoing heartbreak and uncertainty. The renewed appeal comes as part of a continued commitment by authorities to bring closure to the case and justice for Debbie.
Anyone who may have seen or heard anything, no matter how small or insignificant it might seem, is urged to contact the police.
