Police Appeal for Information After Attempted Shed Burglaries in Broadstairs

Broadstairs, Kent – Police are appealing for witnesses following a series of attempted shed and outbuilding burglaries in the Broadstairs area on Wednesday, 11 December 2024.

Series of Incidents

The suspicious activity began at around 4 am when a person was seen jumping over back fences in Ranelagh Grove, St Peter’s.

An hour later, a man was reportedly seen attempting to break into a shed in Grant Close.

Later that evening, at around 9 pm, a person was spotted trying to break into an outbuilding in Dane Court Gardens.

CCTV Released

As part of their ongoing investigation, police have released a CCTV image of an individual who they believe may have information that could assist their inquiries.

Appeal for Information

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to Kent Police by calling 01843 222289 and quoting reference 46/209938/24.

Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers at 0800 555111 or through their online reporting form.

Advice for Residents

In light of these incidents, police have issued the following security advice for residents:

  • Ensure all windows, doors, and garages are locked, and activate any security systems when leaving your home.
  • Switch on external security lighting or CCTV if available and report any suspicious behavior immediately by calling 999.
  • Use timer switches on lights and radios when out to make your home appear occupied.
  • Store items like ladders and bins out of sight to prevent them from being used to gain access to your property.
  • Check that sheds and outbuildings are securely locked and that valuable items inside are not visible.
