Police are appealing for information following an attempted armed robbery of a newsagents in Tower Hamlets

Police are appealing for information following an attempted armed robbery of a newsagents in Tower Hamlets. The incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday, 18 June at approximately 6am. A single male suspect entered newsagents in Roman Road, London, E2. The man produced a knife in an apparent attempt to rob the newsagent. He was challenged by a member of staff and after a struggle left the scene. The member of staff, a man in his mid-30s, received minor injuries. He did not require hospital treatment. No property was stolen. No arrests at this time. Detectives are pursuing a number of leads and reviewing CCTV footage of the incident. Police are aware that footage of this incident has been circulated on social media also. Enquiries continue.
